It’s a week before we start our Detox Kits, are you as excited as I am? Maybe you are nervous and not sure how you will fair throughout your cleanse or whether you can still keep up with your daily responsibilities.
Your main goal this week is to improve digestion and elimination via the bowels and kidneys. If you are prone to slower moving bowels, eliminating one or less times per day, chances are you are not consuming enough water and/or fiber in your diet. Start eating 1-2 apples per day on an empty stomach and follow the suggestions below:
1. Replace morning coffee with Hot Lemon Water. Upon waking, before eating anything, drink a mug of hot lemon water. Using the juice of a half freshly squeezed lemon, add to 8 ounces of boiled water and sip when cool enough to
drink. Optionally: add 1 tsp. of Bragg Raw Organic Apple Cider vinegar to enhance health benefits.
2. Replace all caffeine, alcohol, soda pop, bottled/carton/frozen fruit punches with water/caffeine free herbal teas/vegetable juice and fresh fruit. Gradually increase your intake over the course of the week. Yes, you will be urinating more frequently – that’s a good thing as we are flushing toxins and hydrating the cells. Gradually work up to 1.5 litres or 6 cups per day.
3. Replace the cookies, cakes, donuts, candy and treats, processed foods with protein. Whenever the sugar cravings strike, eat a small handful of raw nuts/seeds, a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt or natural peanut butter (no added sugar). If you are still craving sweetness, eat a piece of fresh fruit or a bowl full of berries with yogurt.
Think about how great you are going to feel as you begin to detox. I have already noticed an improvement just by drinking my hot lemon water, how about you?
